How Long Has The Masonic Ring Been In Existence?
Freemasons have been wearing aprons, jewels and rings to identify with Freemasonry ever since the first Masonic lodges came into existence in England in the early 1700’s. When a man becomes a Mason, he must pass through three levels of Masonry starting with the Entered Apprentice, and then advancing to the Journeyman and then on to the Master Mason. Typically the early Masonic rings were made of gold or silver. Although I believe most Masons prefer a Masonic ring made of gold or silver, in the last 4 years or more, with gold pricing advancing so high and so fast it has made the gold Master Mason to expensive for many of our brothers to afford. Hence many less expensive alloys such as brass, copper, stainless steel and others have become very popular because they are relatively inexpensive. Although throughout history there have been some Entered Apprentice and Journeyman Masonic rings, they are rare to find. While some Masons begin w

This is not unusual on a new silver or gold ring. Please read below.
Don’t panic, this “green or black finger effect” is a reaction to the copper alloy in the sterling silver especially if you have high body acidity. It hap pens to about 2-3% of people and percentage is increasing due to increased percentages of chemicals in our environment and food we eat.
Sometimes these reactions are occasional and happen when someone eats something with high acidity like tomatoes, if someone is taking certain medications, or due to excitement. If you prefer not having this happen to you, then you should sell gold jewelry and buy something that won’t go through this process.

One guide worth looking at is the one from www.raremetalblog.com. Soaking the ring for a day or two in a 50/50 mixture of household ammonia and water will take care of the problem.
Another solution is to simply clean the ring every day with a silver polishing cloth. After about a week or two, the reaction will stop occurring
Applying a layer of Jeweler’s Skin Guard (which we can provide for you) on the inside of the ring will prevent perspiration & body sweat from reaching the metal and reacting to it. Clear nail polish will also work.
Keep your skin dry when wearing jewelry. Remove ring before showering, sleeping, exercising, strenuous activities, or using cleaning products.
Keep your jewelry clean. If the piece begins to tarnish, clean it immediately.
This should solve your problem.

Gold filled jewelry is quickly gaining popularity in the United States. It is a quality material that is easy to care for and maintains its brilliance for a long time. The process involves layering two or three layers of gold alloy that is bonded to another surface such as brass. Gold filled is required to contain 5% or 1/20 gold by weight. The 5% is then described by the KT of the gold alloy. Gold filled jewelry is identified by 10/20 or 10/14 or 10KT Gold filled or 14KT Gold filled is also acceptable. Gold filled will not peel or delaminate like a “dipped” product. It will also not tarnish like many sterling silver products. To clean a gold filled piece of jewelry it is best to just use warm soap and water. Gold filled will generally stand up or last longer than an electroplated piece of jewelry.
Gold plated jewelry is where a minute layer of solid gold is applied to a brass base. It is estimated to be about .05% or less of the metal product. Gold plating will typically wear off rather quickly and expose the underlying product made of brass. Over time, it does not typically stand up very well to exposure to heat or water.
Do not confuse gold plate with Vermeil which is a thicker layer of gold normally applied over sterling silver rather than a base metal such as brass. To be considered Vermeil, the plating should be a minimum or 2.5 microns thick.

The most identifiable symbol of Freemasonry is the Compass and Square. The compass and square are found on most all Masonic rings. They represent the architect’s tools and are also used in Masonic rituals in teaching the different degrees of Freemasonry. The Compass and Square are emblems that represent symbolic lessons in conduct. The square is a symbol or morality. The square represents the desire to square our actions. The symbolism is found in everyday language. We have all heard it. Here are some examples: “Let’s get things squared away”, “Are we square now?”, “Squaring off”, “Getting a Square Deal.” The compass is indicative of keeping the Mason within the bounds of mankind. Sometimes the “G” in incorporated into the symbol. The most widely interpretation of the letter in that the “G” stands for God and is at the center of Freemasonry. The “G” can also be interpreted as a reference to the Great Architect of the Universe which is a reference to God. The letter “G” can also stand for Geometry the basis of which is the superstructure of Freemasonry.

The Freemasons always end their prayers with “So Mote It Be” What does it mean and why do they do it?
Typically in English, prayers are ended with the word “Amen”. Amen is actually a Latin word meaning “So Be It” or “So May It Be”. Amen is a declaration of affirmation that is found in the New Testament and Hebrew Bible. It has been since adopted into Christian worship and is used at the end of hymns and prayers.
In so far as why do Freemasons use it at the end of their prayers, the answer goes back to 1390AD. The term was used in the Regius Poem of 1390. The Regius Poem is the oldest known Masonic document and is currently on display in the British Museum in London.
It is one of the Old Charges used by Masons to regulate their trade as well as serving as a document to guide the rules of manners and moral conduct of the Freemasons. The Old Charges are documents handed down to the Freemasons from the 14th century. The documents are found in the form of handwritten documents on paper and parchment rolls having been sewn together or pasted and are stitched together in book form. Some of these documents date back to 1390 until 1714.
In keeping up with a 600 plus year tradition, the Freemasons end their prayers today in the same way they did clear back in 1390 by saying “So Mote It Be”.

My dad has been a freemason for a long time and he is very committed to his fraternity. Being a freemason takes a lot of commitment and I am proud of my dad and how far he has come. He is part of one of the world’s largest fraternities and he is very happy about that. He has taught me a lot from his own experiences in this fraternity.
I wanted to get something very special for my dad recently for his birthday. I found the perfect gift for him and it was a fabulous masonic ring. The ring features 14K gold and it is a stunning ring. He was very impressed by the ring and he was very happy that I thought to get it for him. The ring made the perfect gift.
I am very happy that I found the perfect gift to get my dad and he wears his ring very proudly. The ring sparkles like nothing else and it looks stunning on my dad’s hand. It is a nice addition to his men’s jewelry collection. I am so glad that I decided to get this ring for him and I love seeing my dad wear it with pride.
I have some very fine Knights Templar rings that look very nice and are crafted using the finest materials. I love these rings and looking at them all the time. The rings mean a lot to me. These rings are very intricate and they contain the symbols that mean the most to me. I have one that I especially like.
My favorite ring of the Knights Templar kind is a ring that has the Blue Lodge emblem on one side of it and it has the Royal Arch Mason emblem on the other side. This is a heavy ring and I love that about it. It is solid and it was made by a jewelry manufacturer who makes only very high quality jewelry.
The Knights Templar is a masonic order that I have been part of for a long time. I feel very proud to have been part of this order for so long and I am very glad that I discovered this masonic fraternity. It has taken a lot of commitment, but I have gained so much knowledge and wisdom over the years that I wouldn’t have gotten any other way. My Knights Templar rings are of very high quality and they represent something that is very special to me.

There has been much research done on the links between the symbol of the skull and crossbones and the one used by the Knights Templar on their ships. In the 13th century the Knights Templar had the world’s largest fleet of sailing ships in the world. As the Knights Templar was dissolved, the remnants of the Knights Templar became the Knights of Malta. The Knights Templar and the Knights of Malta were well known for their acts of piracy on the high seas.
The new Templars; otherwise known as the Knights of Malta became well known for their acts of piracy on the high seas. That is why there is a direct link between the uses of the Skull and Crossbones on the sails of the pirates and has become a modern day symbol of piracy. The image of the Skull and Crossbones flying over the ships of the pirates as they go about their business of robbing, rape and murder, is nothing more than a device to strike fear into those who saw a ship flying the flag that was bearing down on the innocent parties.
There is however a lot more to the origin and its use and meanings than the explanation given above.
In Freemasonry, the use of the Skull and Crossbones is as prevalent as the Compass and Square and is often shown on headstones and ceremonial swords and aprons and sashes worn by the Freemasons. The 3rd Degree or Master Mason degree is a ritual involving the raising of the dead. The Skull and Crossbones are placed on the death shroud when a brother is raised as the Worshipful Master explains that the bones depicted on the Skull and Crossbones are emblems of mortality. The Skull and Crossbones remind us that it is very natural to fear death but as a Mason it is not something to dread but rather as a motivating factor to complete our own work here on earth as men and Freemasons. It is a reminder to every Mason as we sit in the Lodge during the raising of a Fellowcraft to the Sublime Degree if Master Mason that death is always near and that it can come and any time and in any place regardless of who is involved.
A more modern version of the Skull and Crossbones also known as the Death’s Head was common amongst the SS of Nazi Germany and worn on the officer’s caps. The Skull and Crossbones was also shown on the very highly regarded Totenkopfring/Deaths Head Ring that was awarded to SS officers in recognition of the devotion to duty, personal achievement and loyalty to the Fuhrer.
The Memento Mori otherwise known as the Skull and Crossbones is a grim reminder of our own mortality and has its roots in the York Rite degrees of Chivalry such as the Knights Malta and The Knights Templar; thus the symbol of the Skull and Crossbones laid over the Knights Templar emblem as shown in the pictures above.
It is also a very important symbol within the Knights of Columbus.
